If your relationship with your civil partner beaks down, and you wish to bring your relationship to an end, this is known as dissolution of the civil partnership.

The process for the dissolution of a civil partnership is the same as if you were married, so it is the same as the divorce process.

Please follow the link here for details of the divorce process.

The Court proceedings bringing the civil partnership to an end are called dissolution proceedings, and the application to the Court is known as a Dissolution Application.  The terminology for all other stages of the divorce process is the same.

Finances

You can also resolve any financial aspects arising from the breakdown of your civil partnership, but these are dealt with separately to the dissolution proceedings.  We can assist you with the resolution of such issues, and the process is again the same as for a married couple.  Please follow the link here for details of the financial process.

Children

If you are encountering issues regarding the arrangements for any child of the civil partnership, we can assist you in reaching an agreement.  The Court do not automatically consider the arrangements for the children, and if matters cannot be agreed outside of the Court process, we can guide you through making an application to Court.  Please follow the link here for details relating to resolving child arrangements.
